What Makes Good Tea?

There's a lot more that goes into crafting a good cup of tea than what you might expect. We've come up with 4 key areas which play an essential role in making the perfect brew:

1. Location

As the most popular beverage on the planet, the tea industry is huge! With this size and stature, tea has a rather large impact on the world. Not just on the environment but on the people who work with tea.

With this in mind, it is incredibly important to source ethically and environmentally sustainable teas. We source our organic loose leaf tea from passionate micro-producers who grow tea in bio-diverse locations. As apposed to a typical monocrop plantation, this method guarantees that our teas are grown as traditionally and natural as possible. I guess you could call it free-range tea.

It not only produces the worlds best organic tea, but it also promotes long-term environmental sustainability, protecting both our farmers and their valuable land from nasty petrochemical pesticides and fertilisers.

2. Production

Thinking local has been the most important consideration for us from day one. We're proud to have built strong ties with local organic growers who product crops like kawakawa, manuka, rosemary, mint, lemon and orange for our teas. Further more, all of our teas are hand blended and packaged by us in New Zealand and we even grow and make our own tea here in NZ.

3. Ingredients

Next time you brew up a cup of super deluxe tropical tangerine and lime tea, have a look on the back of your bag of exotically flavored tea and we bet you’ll find one main ingredient vaguely named ‘flavoring.’

We stay well clear of these suspicious, chemically derived flavorings. Instead we choose to blend our delicious green and black tea with real life organic ingredients that have real world names. Things like herbs, flowers and berries. It's a simple method, but it means that you can see what you are drinking, and what you're drinking is actually good for you.

4. Independence

Last but not least, we are proud (and fortunate) to say that we are independently owned by ourselves and no one else. No bank loans or investor funding, and nothing was given to us. We've worked hard from scratch for the last 4 or so years to build this company. It means our tea is never compromised and the only people we answer to is ourselves (and you!).

Our independence makes us value each and every order that comes through the door just that little bit more because it supports us to doing what we enjoy the most — drinking good tea!
