2014 Here We Come

Posted by Informal Tea Co. on

So here we are, 2014, back at work blending and packing tea. But before we get stuck back into tea, no new year is complete without an action packed roundup of the previous year right? So here we go…

We gathered up a good bunch of new stockists in 2014. Mount Maunganui has been a happening place with new stockiests including the sweet new supreme cafe LUCA, Paper Plane and The Local. We were real lucky to have teamed up with the lovely girls from The Bread and Butter Letter with their new store on K Road in Auckland, and we’re also in a bunch of exotic locations such as Table Matters in Waihi, Beautea in New Plymouth and Fox Organics in Martinborough.

Although we only launched one new tea last year, we put a fair bit of time into refining our current teas and improving, expanding and redefining our current teas + supply chain with the use of more locally grown ingredients and higher grade ingredients from overseas. We’re getting there slowly, Rosemary from Kerikeri is now in our Fresh Mint tea and locally grown Lemon Verbena is very nearly almost ready:

We now use epic Goji Berries in our Berry tea.

And we’re on a long path to grow our own Orange Bergamot in New Zealand so that we can produce the best Earl Grey tea in the world.

We also have a couple of blends in the works which will be launched very soon including a firey native herb concoction.

And we couldn’t mention new things without a shout out to our new tea cups. Each one made completely by hand, by us! We couldn’t be more happy with how these have turned out.

We’re stoked that everyone else seems to be loving them too, even if they aren’t always used for tea..

Alongside all that we’ve continued to show up at a heck ton of markets too. The Tauranga waterfront Night Owl Cinema markets are proving to be popular alongside the now legendary Little Big Markets.

But the highlight of the year (once again) was the Christmas edition of the LBMs which saw the ever generous Tiki Taane round up some of New Zealand’s best songstresses  — Anika Moa, Hollie Smith and Anna Coddington — to perform for the event which was packed to the max and raised over $12,000 for charity through $1 donations at the gate.

Overall, we couldn't be more grateful for the support we received through 2013 — its so epic to think that we’re at the heart of the tea revolution in New Zealand!

So we have to give a massive thanks to all those who’ve stocked, brought and supported us and our tea throughout the year, heres to a massive 2014!

What do you think?
